Police claim improvement in security scenario | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 31: The security agencies have claimed a favourable change in the overall security situation in the state. The claim was made keeping in view the restraint people exercised during the tense Cricket match between India and Pakistan at Mohali Wednesday. Senior police officers admitted that security had been beefed up to prevent any breach of order in the state. “However nothing untoward happened”, they said. Defence Ministry sources claimed that the situation in the state had improved because of the success of the troops, guarding the LOC and the IB. They claimed that during the last three months more than 80 per cent of the infiltration bids had been foiled and if at all some militants managed to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir their number was not more than 10 to 15 since. The Ministry sources said that round the clock patrolling on the border and sustained operations against the militants within the state had contributed to the improvement in the situation. The sources believe that the chances of unrest this summer seemed quite bleak. They claimed most of the teenagers had promised to ignore any call for protests.
