| Speaker summons local newspaper reporter | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Mar 31 : On the directions of speaker of legislative assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone, assembly secretariat today shot a letter to the editor of local English asking him to send his reporter before him for substantiating veracity of a news item carried by the newspaper in its edition dated March 31, 2011.
Letter was sent to the editor of that English daily in which he was asked to send his newspaper reporter before him on April 1 at 9 am for substantiating veracity of the news item "Rs 40 crore NRHM funds recovered from bank account of minister's OSD." Speaker issued the direction while taking cognizance of the issue raised by health minister Sham Lal Sharma in the House today. He said that the newspaper, in a series of news stories, had attempted to tarnish his image in public.
Dr Shafaqat Ahmed Khan was neither his OSD nor has he worked in his personal section as reported in the news item, he added. He, however, said that Rs 40 crore was deposited by him as nodal officer under the centrally sponsored scheme. |
