Communalists failed to disturb secular traditions set during freedom Movement: Peeerzada
Children’s Day celebrated with great enthusiasm

Falling heavily on parties mixing religion with politics, JKPCC President and Minister for Education, Haj, Auqaf, Youth Services and Sports Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed today said that these forces failed to disturb the secular traditions set during Freedom Movement by national leaders like Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. Minister was addressing Congress Party Workers at a function organized to celebrate Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister and Indian Freedom Leader Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru here today. Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma, Mula Ram and Yogesh Sawhney, both MLA’s were also present during the function.
Mangat Ram Sharma, in another function held at New Modern Higher Secondary School near Gumat, said that the nation is celebrating the birthday of the architect of the modern India and the first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who dedicated his life in nation’s building. Former Minister and MLA Jammu East Mr. Yogesh Sawhney, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu, Vinod Kumar Sharma, Corporator Gulshan Mahajan, Chairman New Modern Groups of Institution Lovleen Behl were present on the occasion. Minister also distributed prizes among the children who participated in the cultural programme. Parents, teachers, school children and prominent citizens also attended the function. Country remembers first prime minister on Children’s day.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) also observed the day at its party Head Quarter at Shahidi Chowk where, President JKPCC, Peerzada Mohd paid homage to great leader. Top party leaders and other functionaries of the party were also present during the function. Among those who spoke on the occasion include, Mula Ram, Gharu Ram, Yogesh Sawney, S Parduman Sing, Amrit Malhotra, Farida Mir, Arvinder Singh Micky, Yash Pal Khajuria and Janak Raj Gupta etc.
J&K Pradesh Congress (I) Sewa Dal also celebrated the birth anniversary of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in the form of Children’s day at Congress head quarter under the chairmanship of Balvinder Singh Sambyal, Pradesh Chairman Congress Seva Dal. On this occasion all the speakers pledged to make J &K Child Labor Free State.
At Rajouri, District Congress Committee (DCC) organized a function at Degree College Rajouri to celebrate the occasion. In this function President DCC Rajouri and Vice Chairman State Pahari Advisory Board, Shabir Ahmed Khan was the chief guest. At Poonch, DCC organized a function under the president ship of Ch. Zaffar Ullah.
Several schools across the state also organized functions to celebrate Children’s Day. In Dogra Academy, Principal, Gambir Dev Singh Charak threw light on the life and work of the Panditji. He also advised the teachers to share the responsibility for making the bright future of the children. The program concluded with the funfair organized by the teachers for the students in which different stalls of eatables and games were put up.
In Euro Care, a Patriotic Rhyme Competition was organized to commemorate the occasion. Bala Gupta, Director Euro Care distributed prizes among the winners of today’s competition and said that the objective of holding the competition was to inculcate the ethos of Pt. Nehru in the children.
Heritage School organized a fete for the children, where money contributed by the teachers and the management was given in charity for under privileged children of Sahara School . Children also contributed a rupee each for the noble cause.
Rotary Club, in a unique style, celebrated the day with the children of Mentally Retarded home. The members of the club led by its President Jatinder Singh Gandhok distributed sweets and fruits among the mentally challenged children.
To commemorate the Day, senior staff of Bharti Airtel J&K visited the SOS Home, Channi Rama and spent time with the inmates. Paying tributes to Chacha Nehru on his Birth anniversary speakers emphasized on inculcating strong values for building a strong nation. Sweets and eatables were also distributed on the occasion. Punit Mathur, Head Sales and Marketing Bharti Airtel J&K, Sunil Raina, Head Marketing, Bharti Airtel, J&K were the part of visiting team.
Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), under the president ship of Pt. Sewa Ram Sharma, too celebrated Children’s Day to commemorate Pt Nehru’s birth anniversary.
