| Eminent Scientist delivers guest lecture at MIER | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, April 1: MIER College of Education organized an interactive session by eminent Scientist Dr. Sudhakar C. Agarkar, Professor and Head of the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai on ‘Cross – Cultural Research in Learning Hurdles’ for its faculty and students.
The research wing of the college organized the lecture. Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER Group of Institutions chaired the session. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Dr. B. L. Raina, HOD M. Ed Department, Dr. Annie Kaul, HOD B. Ed Department, Dr. D. R. Kapoor, HOD research wing, Dr. Surinder Kaur, Controller Examination MIER. The students and faculty members of MIER College of Education also attended the lecture.
Welcoming the distinguished speaker, Dr. Arun K.Gupta lauded the tremendous work done by Dr. Agarkar in popularizing science among the masses. Having participated in numerous national and international seminars and associated with various projects, Dr. Agarkar is undoubtedly one of the topmost researchers in the country today.
Dr. Agarkar interacted with the teacher trainees and gave a brief history of his research institute which was established even before independence. He acquainted them about the work done by the institute, which has been conferred with the status of a deemed university, the main focus of it being education of the first generation learners. He hoped that the teacher trainees would strive to nurture creativity and develop scientific attitude among their students. The lecture was followed by an interactive session in which the students posed their queries.
To conclude the session, Dr. B. L. Raina formally thanked the esteemed guest for giving such an informative and interesting lecture for the benefit of the staff and students of MIER. Dr. Ira Bhan, senior Lecturer P.G Department, conducted the programme.
