Folk theatre workshop concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 1: One month long Folk Theatre Workshop on Dogri Folk Ponn 'Haran' organized by Natraj Natya Kunj Jammu concluded here at Studio Ranglok under the guidance of Dogri Writer and Theatrist Kumar A Bharti. Dr Sudhir Mahajan, Dr Jasmeet Kour and D P Dutt also delivered lectures in the workshop. Funds for this Folk Theatre Workshop were provided by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi. During this workshop guidance regarding Dogri Folk Form 'Haran' was given to the budding artists by Shyam Lal Raina and Kumar A Bharti. D P Dutt delivered lecture on the importance of preservation of these different dying Folk Art Forms. Dr Sudhir Mahajan discussed the problem being faced by our Folk Artist who are actually performing these dances in rural and hilly area of Jammu Region Kumar A Bharti gave stress on the topic how we can make popular and attractive these Folk Forms in our life and we mist preserve our Folk Theatre. Bharti also shared his valuable experiences with artists and gave suggestions about other Dogri art forms like Kud, Phumanian, Chajja Nach, Guggail which are directly connected with 'Haran'. The main concentration was given to share knowledge to our youth about rich Dogra Cultural Heritage. About 35 students attended this workshop. A Folk play "Chall Mere Hama Ticchak Toon" written by Kumar A Bharti and Directed by Abhishek Bharti was performed at Shanta Higher Secondary School, Rajpura Mangotrian, Jammu which was much applauded by the audience.
