Incorporate 73rd amendment on Panchayati Raj: JKPP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 1: Jammu & Kashmir Panchayat Parishad (JKPP) has said that holding of Panchayat Elections in the state is a bold and historic decision of the Government but 73rd amendment on Panchayati Raj needs to be incorporated to effectuate the decision and to make the whole exercise of Panchayat polls a meaningful process In a meeting of the JKPP, the executive body members under the chairmanship of their president said that villages are the backbone of India and efforts should be made to keep them empowered through the strong Panchayati Raj system. The people particularly the women from weaker sections with strong will and missionary zeal and gesture must come forward, they said Gupta expressed satisfaction on the fulfillment of JKPP’s demand for Panchayat elections. He said our struggle towards empowerment to better Panchayati Raj institution will continue. He also offered to keep the services of JKPP at the disposal of the State Govt in the matter of training/ awareness porgrammes for the newly elected Panchayti Raj representatives.
