Every district to have women college | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 01: Higher education minister Abdul Ghani Malik today announced that every J&K district would have a women college. A survey in this regard was being conducted by the agencies concerned, he said in reply to a question by Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo in the legislative assembly. The government would consider the opening of these colleges after receiving the survey report, he added. Earlier, in written reply to the question, the minister said though there was at present no proposal to open a separate Women College at Kishtwar, the government planned to open a degree college at Marwah. The college at Marwal would be opened under a centrally sponsored scheme and the proposal in this regard was under active consideration of the government,The minister said there were already degree colleges at Kishtwar and Chhatroo which were co-educational. He informed the House that the central government had sanctioned a number of degree colleges for educationally backward and far-flung areas of the state. Malik said the students of Sumchan-Paddar and Suknaie-Warwan had to cover a distance of 130 kms for pursuing higher studies in Kishtwar degree college.
