Committee to look into allegations of distribution, upgradation of PHCs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 01: Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone today announced the setting up of an 11-member House Committee to look into the allegations of discrimination in the distribution and upgradation of primary health centres (PHCs) in the state since 2002. Dr Mustafa Kamal was made chairman of the committee. The members included Javid Mustufa Mir, Yashpal Kundal, Namgial, Mohammad Ashraf, Zulfkar Ali, Feroz Khan, Ashwani Kumar, Krishan Chandar, Garu Ram and Indu pawar as members. The committee would probe into the allegations and come up with the report in the next session, Lone said in the legislative assembly. The need to form the House Committee arose after some MLAs had made an allegation few days back that there was discrimination in the distribution and upgradation of PHCs. The speaker made this announcement during discussion on a question of Javid Mustafa Mir. In written reply to Javid's question, health minister Sham Lal Sharma said no new PHC, sub-centre and allopathic dispensary had been sanctioned in the last two years in Budgam district.
