J&K celebrates birth centenary of Faiz | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 2: Jammu and Kashmir is celebrating birth centenary of late Faiz Ahmed Faiz for which Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has drawn out a programme and the first event was held on February 21, 2011 at K L Sehgal Hall. This information was given by the Minister of State for Revenue, Nasir Aslam Wani while replying to a question by M. Y. Taing in Legislative Council today. Minister said that more programmes are being held in the shape of seminars, poetic symposia, painting competition on the couplets and a special number of Sheeraza Urdu is being brought out to be dedicated to the life and works of the late poet. Meanwhile, Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather today said that government will engage casual labourers in different departments in a transparent manner, adding that such engagements will, however, be purely need based. Replying to a clubbed question by Murtaza Khan, Mohammad Rafiq Shah and Abdul Gani Vakil in Legislative Council today, he said that 17,636 persons have been employed during last two years other than the selections made by JKPSC and SSRB, which include contractual, consolidated, casual labour, need based, temporary and recruitments made under different SROs. Minister said that a government order No. 105-PD of 2010 dated 25.10.2010 has been issued for engagement of 43,000 un-employed youth of the State in different departments like PDD, PHE/ Irrigation and Flood Control Department, PWD, Rural Development Department, Floriculture, School/Education and Forest Department. Supplementaries were raised by Abdul Gani Vakil, Syed Muhammad Rafiq Shah and Murtaza Khan.
