JAMMU, April 2: Every April 22nd Earth Day provides a tremendous opportunity to engage all levels of civil society in the environmental movement Earth Day campaign started in the year1970.
In Jammu and Kashmir WWF-India along with Earth day Network India is organizing the campaign. In this campaign all civil society, National Green Corps/Paryavaran Mitra Eco-Club Schools and other institutions are participating
The 40th anniversary of Earth day in 2010 was observed in 17 cities around India, including New Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai through commemorative Mother Earth concerts, community service and tree-planting projects.
Building on the success of 40th anniversary Earth Day campaign, Earth Day Network India is launching 41st Earth day on 22nd April, 2011 all over India. Earth Day 2011 in India aims to activate over a million people to participate in local, regional and country-wide projects focusing on Environment Education, Women and Green Economy, Capacity Building and Training etc..
