DSE asks private schools to submit new fee structure

JAMMU, Apr 2: Director of School Education (DSE), Gulzar Qureshi has called a meeting of members from private schools affiliated to Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) and Centre Board of School Education (CBSE) to decide the fee structure of private education institutes.
In the meeting, DSE asked the members to submit their fee structure in written, after that the department will decide the guidelines and fee structure for the private school, depending upon the infrastructure and other facilities provided to the students besides location of the school.
Sources said that during the meeting, department has directed the schools to publish their fee structure and if any school increases the fee the school will also inform the students and parents as well by publishing in newspapers. It is pertinent to mention here that few days ago much social and political organization besides some students organization have raised the issue and protesting against the hiking of fee by the private education institutes.
According to the sources, private schools have increased the annual fee comparing to the last year from Rs.4500 to Rs.6000 from each students who are studying in the same school. He also disclosed that the admission fee is being charged to Rs.25000 to Rs.30000 from each student, the monthly fee has been enhanced from Rs.1200 to Rs.1500 thus causing great injustice to the students of private schools.
Notably, the government had directed the private schools to admit about 25% students of BPL in their institution without charging any fee from them. National Secular Forum (NSF) state president Vikas Sharma said that all private education institutions should follow guidelines made by the education department. He also said that instead of publishing the newspaper, department of education should handle this issue strictly without any more delay as the new session is going to start soon.
