Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 2: New Delhi's nominated interlocutors on Jammu Kashmir have received a representation from Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, who heads the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference. This was stated by one of the interlocutors, MM Ansari to a local news agency today.
Giving details, Ansari said: "During our tour of Poonch, a group from Mirwaiz Hurriyat approached us and gave us a representation on behalf of Mirwaiz", he claimed.
Ansari also revealed that a senior separatist leader met interlocutors in New Delhi. "We got feedback from separatists as some of there office bearers met us. They (separatists) are trying to forge consensus as to when and where they should meet us," he added.
The separatists had so far ignored the interlocutors. Even their invitation was not heeded. The former chairman of the amalgam, Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat has time and again stated that meeting the interlocutors was a futile exercise.
Ansari said different voices emanating from Jammu Kashmir were a big hurdle in finding an amicable solution to the problem. "Mainstream parties like National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and separatist parties speak in different voices. There is lack of clarity on the question of autonomy, self-rule or independence which they have been voicing at different fora."
Ansari said that Cricket diplomacy and election in some states had delayed their report. "The Home Minister is busy and has no time to go through our report", he said.
The interlocutor commented on the latest situation in the Valley. "I agree people are being taken into custody but the police are doing it in a transparent manner now. Only those people are being arrested who were involved in violence and against whom there are concrete proofs."
Ansari assured the people that justice will be done with the people who have grievances. "No innocent will be harassed and if anybody has any grievance he can contact us and we assure justice would be done."
