4/3/2011 9:35:59 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, April 3: “ Addressing an Islamic congregation at Srinagar, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, president of the Socialistic Democratic Party has said that the Waqf Board has become the source of earning for the ruling class and a few dynasties of Kashmir. The funds donated by the people to different Ziarats in Kashmir are utilized and exploited by those who do not believe in the sanctity of the Ziarats. These funds are utilized directly or indirectly for diluting the Sufi belief of Kashmir which is our treasure.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that the gifts of gold ornaments and other jewelry by the believers at different Ziarats is auctioned at silly prices and taken home by a few at the helm of affairs. Dr Darakhshan said that it was shocking to see that the tomb was Hazratbal shrine was leaking and the rain pours fell down in the Ziarat Hall.
She said that more shocking was that twice tenders were flown for execution of the repairs but nothing has been done. The Waqf Board has lost its credibility as it is not at all working for the cause for which it was constituted.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said the Waqf Board was to be head by a CEO as per the Waqf Act but for political adjustments only this Act has also been violated and a political person appointed as Vice Chairman. Dr Darakhshan Andrabi criticized the government for playing with the spiritual belief of the majority in the valley of Kashmir and projecting the outside missionaries as the religious representatives of Kashmir.
