Joint efforts required for launching development schemes: Selja | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, April 3: Union Minister for Housing and Urban Poor Alleviation and Culture, Kumari Selja has called for involving common people in the implementation of the housing and urban poor alleviation schemes. She said optimum and positive results of these schemes could only be achieved when common people are made aware and benefitted. She said central and state government have to work jointly to launch these development and welfare schemes for urban poor adding that central government is providing liberal funds and assured that more funds will flow for upgrading the living standard of these people. Kumari Selja said the purpose of these people’s oriented schemes including Rajiv Awas Yojna is to empower the people so that they feel impact of these welfare schemes. Earlier, welcoming the Union Minister, Minister of State for HU&D and Tourism, Nasir Aslam Wani gave a detailed account of various central and state schemes in progress in the state and also apprised Kumari Selja regarding various problems of the urban development schemes. Nasir Aslam Wani demanded that the department of Archaeological Survey of India be revived in the state so that the monuments and other buildings having heritage importance are looked after and protected in a proper manner.
