| Intensify creation of rich tourist infrastructure in all TDAs: Azad to authorities | | ‘State possesses vast potential for pilgrim tourism to showcase’ | | Jammu, Nov 15 Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has called for development of massive tourism infrastructure and completion of integrated tourist circuits in Jammu and Kashmir with modernized wayside amenities to showcase new and chaste tourist places for large scale tourist activity to attract huge tourist flow. He said state being abode of great saints, sufis and saints possesses vast potential to showcase pilgrim tourism in a big way. Chief Minister was reviewing progress on development of integrated tourist circuits in the state at a meeting here today. These circuits are being developed under Prime Minister’s reconstruction plan. Minister for Tourism Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Anil Goswami, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Mr. Pramod Jain, Secretary Tourism Mr. Naeem Akhtar, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Shalindera Kumar, Director Tourism Jammu Mr. Ajay Khajuria, Chief Engineer CPWD, Chief Executive Officers of various tourism development authorities and other senior officers attended the meeting. Chief Minister reviewed in detail the development of Lakhanpur-Basohli-Bani-Sarthal and Bhadarwah-Kishtwar-Sinthan-Srinagar integrated tourist circuits. It was stated that nearly Rs. 2.60 crore are being spent on construction of traveller mart at Lakhanpur. For the purpose, 213 kanals of land has been identified and the project is being formulated by the CPWD. Mr. Azad issued instructions to the CPWD authorities for completing construction of Rs. 2.13 crore tourist resort at Bhadarwah by September 2007. He also asked for completing all procedural formalities and dumping of construction material at the site well in advance so that the construction activity commences at Jai near Bhadarwah by March-April next year. The tourism infrastructure to be raised there includes resting shelters, cafeteria, kiosks, view-points and general upgradation of the site. Minister for Tourism Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir while speaking on the occasion unfolded the plans of the government for promotion of tourism in the state on modern lines. He highlighted the importance of integrated tourist circuit projects in over all socio-economic transformation of the state, adding that these will provide attractions and amenities to the tourists. He said that the integrated tourist circuits will also promote pilgrim tourism in a big way as numerous revered religious places of different religions are on way of these circuits. |
