Bogies of two trains gutted at rly station | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 3: Despite the presence of huge possee of policemen and RPF personnel at the railway station here, a bogie of the Jhelum Express was gutted after it caught fire under mysterious circumstances this evening. The train arrived at the platform at about 10.30 am. It was being taken for washing at about 4.30 pm when fire was noticed in one of its bogies, police sources said. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of department of fire services. While efforts were being made to control the flames, fire broke out in a compartment of Hawra Express, which was parked on the nearby track, the sources added. Firemen controlled the flames from spreading to the other coaches and extinguished the fire in about half-an-hour long operation. SSP (railways) Raghubir Singh said it primarly seemed to be a case of negligence on the part of the agency which was entrusted with the job of guarding abandoned trains. He said the incident was aimed at damaging the railway property. It is worth mentioning here that after the trains arrive at the platform, watch and ward staff hands over their safety to railway protecion force (RPF). Due the incidents of fire, Pooja Express was delayed by about 30 minutes. |
