| Massive protest, shutdown in Thanna Mandi over Maroof’s death | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, April 4:
Continuing their agitation and strong resentment against the alleged ‘irresponsible’ and ‘reckless’ attitude of the civil and police administration in investigating the exact cause of Maroof Khan’s mysterious death, a complete shutdown was observed in Thanna Mandi where thousands of people came on road to protest.
The protesting people alleged that sixteen days have passed since Maroof Khan was killed mysteriously but no concrete conclusion has been drawn by the police investigating the case and that there is something foul going on in the enquiry.
The protesters demanded constituting a high level Special Investigating Team comprising of honest police personals who could investigate the case in a pretty transparent manner.
Moreover, the people gave ten days ultimatum to administration to come with concrete conclusions otherwise the people will start ‘dharna’ and fast unto death in front of Civil Secretariat Jammu and Parliament New Delhi.
The protesters further warned not to play with the patience and sentiments of the people and warned that if the administration fails to initiate a fair probe, the responsibility for the troubled situation in the coming days lies with it.
