Delhi wrestler lifts Moori Kesari title

JAMMU, April 04: Pahalwan Sagar of Delhi clinched 56th Annual Moori Kesari dangal title outplaying Digvijay of Khanna in Punjab in an interesting bout that lasted for 32 minutes at Middle School Moori in district Reasi.
Chief guest, president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma was chief guest, who presented Moori Kesari title and cash prize of Rs 6,000 to winner Sagar and Rs 4,000 to runners-up, Digvijay. The AGMO of Udhampur, VK Sharma was guest of honour. Former Sarpanch, Anil Kumar, Chuni Lal Ramotra, president, Salora Dangal Committee and Bittu Raina were among other prominent present.
In all, 43 bouts were decided in this day-long dangal, which was organized by Moori Dangal Committee under the aegis of Jammu and Kahsmir Indian Style Wrestling Association.
The second main bout, Parveen of Khanna in Punjab held Kulbir of Kot Bhalwal in Jammu to a draw after fighting for 23 minutes. Both these wrestlers were given away Rs 3,500 each as cash prize. In the third bout Babu of Attati Border in Punjab defeated Fijja of Billawar in Kathua.
In the fourth main bout, Anil Kumar (Mohanu) of J&K Police emerged winner after he downed Malkiyat of Attari. The fifth bout between Swarn Singh of Kot Bhalwal in Jammu and Bobari of Shiv Mandir Akhara in Jammu again ended in a draw
Moori Dangal Committee members and technical official who helped in smooth conduct of this dangal were Shri Badri Nath, Romesh Chander, Om Parkash, Dharam Chand, Sher Mohd, Jakeen Ali, Brij Paul Singh, Bodh Raj, Sukhdev Sharma, Mohan Singh, Om Parkash Sharma, Allah Mai, Vijay Singh (Biju), Ustad Krishan Lal Sharma, Mohd. Fareed and Capt Lehar Singh.
Other Results: Rajesh of J&K Police bt Davinder of Jammu; Pawan of Akhnoor bt Prem Verma of Jhiri; Naresh of Nargadda bt Prabhat Singh of Kalakot; Jodha of Amritsar bt Mohd. Akram of Jammu; Parshotam Singh Kot Bhalwal bt Vijay of Bain Bajalta; Billu of Jammu bt Vijay of Ramnagar; Jitta of Amritsar bt Murad Ali of Jammu; Bagga of Kot Bhalwal bt Angrej Singh of Jungalgali; Jakker of Jindrah bt Amin of Jammu; Liakat Ali of Panthal bt Kuldeep Singh of Ramnagar; Farooq of Jammu of Jammu bt Tirthu of Manwal. Bouts between Kala and Sunil Singh, Daler Khan and Kalu and Murad Ali KP Singh ended in a draw.
