Agitating employees will ‘unitedly fight’ against govt: EJAC

JAMMU, April 4:
The various factions of agitating government employees today joined hands to oppose the policies of the state Government unitedly and to raise their demands in one voice.
Addressing a press conference here today, Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) chairman Ram Kumar Sharma “Our fight against government needs to be fought under one umbrella and unless we do not get united, our efforts will not bear fruits,"
Sharma said that the employees of various factions in a meeting yesterday discussed the trade unions’ scenario prevailing in the state viz a viz laid back attitude of the government towards the agreement reached between representatives of the employees and the government
“There is greater need for broader unity of the employees on a single platform to raise various issues concerning us,” the employees’ leader said
“The government entered into an agreement on February 2, 2009 but failed to implement it on ground following which the employees went on agitation, which has become a never ending process since April 2010,” he added.
The EJAC leader appealed to all the employees’ factions of Jammu as well as Kashmir regions besides Secretariat Employees to remain united to safeguard the interests of lakhs of employees.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the employees are demanding to formulate a policy to regularize the daily rated workers as per agreement which was agreed on May 14, 2010, to issue order of contractual and ad-hoc employees which were issued in August 2009 and the removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre.
