Bhalla urges KP leadership to restore connections in valley

JAMMU, April 4:
Appealing Kashmiri Pandit (KP) leadership to open channels of communication with different sections of people in valley, the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that this would further facilitate the return and rehabilitation of displaced communities to their native place.
Kashmiri Pandits should especially open these channels with intellectuals, business and social circles and others in the valley to help in building confidence measures from civil society, Bhalla said at a function organized by Kashmiri Pandit Sabha at Kashyap Niwas in Ambphalla, here this evening in connection with 97th Navreh on the first Navratra.
The Minister, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, referred to Government measures of providing transit accommodation to nearly 1700 unemployed youth out of 3000 of KP community, who have been appointed and provided jobs in the valley. The construction of transit accommodations at Vessu, Sheikhpora, Mattan and other places are personally being supervised and monitored by me, he added.
Bhalla informed that there were about 4000 applications of KPs who had expressed their willingness to return to their places of birth in the valley and steps were underway to ensure their rehabilitation in Kashmir.
Dwelling upon various steps taken in shifting migrants from camps to Jagti Township, the Minister said that 2112 flats are already being allotted to the migrants and the process of allotting remaining flats would be started soon. He also said that his Ministry was also exploring possibilities for providing adequate facilities to non-camp migrants living in different parts of Jammu region.
Later, the Minister also attended a function in connection with first Navratra at Abhinav Theatre, which was organized by Sanskar Bharti-Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, dedicated to the promotion of fine arts in the country.
