Bhalla asks farming community not to sale land for commercial purposes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 5: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has asked the agriculture land owners not to sale land for commercial purposes adding that every agriculturist should contribute to boost agriculture production by restricting the use of agriculture land for commercial purposes. This was stated by the Minister while interacting with a deputation of agriculturists, here today. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal and District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma were present on the occasion. Bhalla said for this purposes Land Reforms Act enacted to empower farmers for boosting agriculture production to make State self-sufficient and under the act the farmers could not use or sold their farming land except for farming purpose. He said that the Government is making all out efforts to enforce the act strictly and no farmer should be allowed to sold his land for construction purposes he, however, said that farming land can be sold only for cultivation purposes. He said efforts were required to strengthen the agriculture sector and enhance profitability of agro-based ventures so that educated youth are motivated to pick up their careers in agriculture and allied sectors adding that for the purpose Government is providing all necessary facilities to the youth who opted agriculture profession. Meanwhile, another deputation of brick kiln association Jammu region led by its Chairman Jugal Mahajan met the Minister and apprised him about their concerns especially fixation of brick rates at par with Punjab. The Minister gave patient hearing to the delegation. He said Government was fully aware about the problems of brick kiln owners adding that the genuine demands would be mitigated in a phased manner. He assured for enhancing the new rates after proper examining the demand under rules. Bhalla asked for setting up of brick kiln units as per the norms fixed by the Government, besides after issuing necessary certificates from Pollution Control Board. He said as per norms the brick kiln and stone crusher should be come up beyond the agriculture, saffron and horticulture land besides residential localities. At Sanjay Nagar, Lal Chowk, the Minister inspected the ongoing upgradation works of lanes and drains for which Government has earmarked Rs. 2 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete the works within stipulated time frame for the benefit of residents. Ends---
