| PDP welcomed for nominating Bharta as MLC candidate | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri, Apr 5: A meeting of people from all walks of life was held in Rajouri today to thank the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti, and its patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed for giving mandate of MLC seat from Rajouri to Bharat Gupta, an eminent social worker and businessman of Rajouri.
They described this step of party as an honour for the people of the area.
Describing Bharat Gupta as representative of masses of Rajouri as well as the business community, the speakers also appealed to all the MLAs to vote in his favour during the elections for the seat of Member Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held later this month.
The people also thanked MLA Darhal for his support to Bharat Gupta for election as MLC on PDP ticket.
Bharat Gupta joined the Peoples Democratic Party couple of years back and had been active member of the party all through. Rajouri Unit of PDP has also expressed happiness over recognition of dedication of Bharat Gupta by selecting him for contesting the elections as party candidate for MLC seat.
As president of Rajouri-Poonch Transport Union also he has contributed a lot for streamlining of the public transport system as well as bringing transparency in the sector. As a progressive businessman he has helped the downtrodden people of border district Rajouri to raise their own livelihood.
Because of noble contributions the local people of district are jubilant for his nomination by the party as a candidate for election to seat of Legislative Council, and have appealed for support to the cause of people of Rajouri by electing him.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks by the organising committee.
