Mehbooba accuses Govt of fuelling alienation PDP for positive changes in State | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, April 5: Reiterating resolve of her party to bring in positive change in the State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today said that her party had successfully proved its capability to transform promises its reality during the tenure of previous PDP-Congress regime from 2002 to 2008. Addressing a function to welcome large number of youth from Gool area of Ramban district who have joined PDP under the leadership of Haji Imtiyaz Ahmed Shan, Mehbooba Mufti said that joining of such a large number of youth was a clear indication that younger generation of State want change and her party was committee to bring in such change in all spheres of lives be it the governance or the security scenario. “Attaining power is not aim of the PDP. Our goal is to restore the lasting and sustainable peace in this region and to bring in over all change in the system to provide justice to all sections of the society”, she said and reminded the gathering that PDP was formed to restore dignity and honour of the people of this State and to minimize miseries of the common masses. Listing achievements of the previous PDP-Congress regime in the State, Mehbooba Mufti said that revolutionary changes were visible during that period. “Not only atrocities and crackdowns were stopped during that period to restore dignity of the common people, transparency and accountability were also brought in the administration to provide good governance”, she said and reminded that peace to some extent was established all over the state during that period. PDP chief regretted that the present government has not learned any lesson from its mistake and continue with its policy of stifling voice of people through oppressive means. “It is result of this suppressive policy of the government that large numbers of youth of Kashmir have been languishing in different jails”, she said and added that in Jammu region crime has been increasing in alarming rate. Coming down heavily on the government for not treating all regions equally, she especially mentioned towards discriminatory policies being adopted in sanctioning Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and upgrading schools. “While as deserving areas are being neglected, Ministers are brazenly adopting pick and choose policy in sanctioning PHCs or releasing developmental funds”, she said and pointed out that 19 projects were sanctioned in the constituency of a Minister under NABARD, which is glaring example of unequal distribution of funds in the State. While pointing towards decision of the government to organize recruitment rallies in some selective areas, she warned that such policy of recruited youth from some particular areas would be proved disastrous for the State because such policy would fuel already brewing discontent among the people especially the youth. Calling upon the new entrants to spread message of the in their respective areas, Mehbooba Mufti said that policies and programmes of PDP were formulated by incorporating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society. Prominent among those who joined PDP included Farooq Ahmed Ganai, Noor Din Choudhary, Sohail Shan, Mirza M Sayeed Jaral, Shabir Ahmed Wani and others. Senior PDP leaders namely T S Bajwa, Balbir Singh, Daman Bhasin, Ved Mahajan, Shanti Devi, Falail Singh, Vijay Dogra, Surjeet Kour, Narinder Singh Raina, Mohinder Kotwal, Capt Anil Gour, Abdul Ahad Wani, Shoukat Daing, Rajinder Manhas and others also addressed the function.
