Law faces Physical Education in cricket final
Inter-department cricket tournament of JU

JAMMU, April 06: Formidable Department of Law and Department of Physical Education shall face each other in the title clash of the ongoing inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu (JU) on April eight at University grounds, here.
Both the sides made it to the final winning their respective semifinals that with a comfortable margin today.
In the first semi-final, Department of Physical Education registered a 51 runs win over Department of Political Sciences. Batting first, Physical Education set a target of 134 runs for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Sachin Sharma played unbeaten innings of 82 (off 78 balls, 10x4) runs, while Chander Kiran contributed 18. Shakeel claimed two wickets from Political Sciences, followed by Mazahir and Azhar-ud-Din, who took one each.
In reply, Political Sciences lost all their wickets for 82 runs in 16.3 overs. Sunil Singh was main contributor with 29 runs while Ajay Kumar and Nawaz added 13 and 11 runs respectively. From Physical Education, Chander Kiran, Sachin Sharma and Lovejeet Singh shared three wickets each.

Law Deptt beat Law School

In the second semi-final of the day, Department of Law trounced Law School by seven wickets. Earlier, batting first, Law School made 146 runs for the loss of seven wickets with Sami being top scorer, who contributed 55-ball 71 runs. Farrukh also batted well making 24 runs. From Law Department, Rohit Sharma clinched three wickets, followed by Lokesh, who took two.
Later, Department of Law chased the target in 15.4 overs for the loss of only three wickets. Amit Baloria played match winning innings of 54-ball 88 runs studded with four sixes and 12 hits to the fence. Rohit Pal Sharma contributed 31-ball 40 runs. From Law School, Sami and Farooq claimed one wicket each.
Today’s semi-finals were officiated by Vijay Dogra, Raj Kumar, Rajeev Sharma (umpires), Satpal and Manu Khajuria (scorers).
