Shashi’s 81 helps SOI win by 83 runs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 06: A splendid knock of 81 runs today guided Survey of India (SOI) to a big 83 runs win over Income Tax XI to move into the next round of the ongoing Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) at MA Stadium, here. Batting first, after winning the toss, SOI set a challenging total of 203 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 20 overs, which, in reply, IT XI could not chase the total and exhausted their quota of overs for 120 runs losing seven wickets in the process. Shashi was top scorer with 81 runs while A Mathiew contributed 60 runs to the total. Vinod Raina also added valuable 28 runs. From IT XI, Rajesh Koul and Rakesh took one wicket each. Later, chasing the target, IT XI could make only 120 runs with three wickets in hand. Rajesh Koul and Sunjay (not out) were main contributors with 42 and 24 runs in their respective accounts. Sudhir added 21 runs. A Mathiew and Vijay were most successful bowlers with two wickets each while Shashi bagged one. Today’s match was officiated by PS Jamwal and Paramjit of NSSO as umpires while Gulzar Singh (ASI) and Mahesh Sharma (NSSO) were scorers. NEXT MATCH: Account General (AG) XI shall take on IIIM (RRL) tomorrow at 9 am.
