BSNL to launch 3G service from June | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 6: After all the hiccups, the Jammu and Kashmir subscribers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limit (BSNL) would go hi-tech with the launch of 3G service from June this year. "The 3G service of BSNL would be launched in the first quarter of current financial year to provide better and hi-tech services to our services," J and K Chief General Manager (CGM) R K Koul told reporters at a press conference here this afternoon. Mr Koul said, "Though the year 2010-2011 has been an year of challenge and revitalisation for BSNL in Jammu and Kashmir and we had to face the fury of flash floods in Leh, which completely washed away our infrastructure. To provide mobile services for the first time at Amarnath and to meet the aspirations and need of the people, GSM pre-paid services were revitalised by the company." He, however, said for the convenience of subscribers, vast marketing and distribution network of 6,000 sale points across Jammu and Kashmir for GSM, WLL post paid connections, recharging were established. "The year 2011-2012 will be the year of consolidation for BSNL with regard to better customer service satisfaction and expansion of subscriber base besides expansion of mobile network with addition of 170 towers for ongoing projects to cover more areas and improve capacity in congested areas," the CGM added. With context to number portability, Mr Koul said, "So far we suffered a loss of 34 connections as 110 BSNL subscribers switched over to private companies and 76 private subscribers to BSNL."
