Sham lauds Pvt institutions for promoting quality education | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 6: Lauding the role of private educational institutions in universalizing quality education as per market trends, Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma said that efficient education system must cater to the needs of changing global scenario. He said that private sector is supplementing government efforts to promote literacy in a desirable direction. Minister was speaking at the inaugural function of academic session 2011-12, organized by the DCM Public School, Gurah Brahmna at Akhnoor today. Laying stress on fostering close coordination between parents and teachers, Minister said that synergy between the two is a must to remove bottlenecks coming in the way of planned progress of children. He asked the teachers to focus on the overall development of the students and prepare them to compete in the competitions of national and international levels. He said that government is endeavoring to create more infrastructural facilities and make education accessible to all at their doorstep. For this, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) has been instrumental in promoting the literacy rate in the State. He said that in a path breaking initiative, government will provide free uniforms and books to the students in government schools to reduce drop out rate and take major leap towards achieving cent percent literacy. Minister appreciated the management of the DCM Public School for maintaining high standard of education. He asked Chairman of the School Sat Pal Sharma to ensure free education to poor students. He hoped that students of this backward pocket will carve out a niche in State’s socio- economic and administrative set up and bring laurels for their area and state at large. Sham also distributed prizes amongst the students who have excelled in different activities. Prominent educationist and Commissioner Scouts and Guides I.D.Soni, prominent citizens of the area were also present on the occasion.
