4/7/2011 12:04:28 AM
JAMMU: Ten persons, including two women, were wounded in separate clashes here since last night. Police sources said in a clash between two rival groups in a marriage party at Falain Mandal, Satwari, four persons sustained injuries.
They were identified as Abdul Hamid, Shamas Khan, Mohammad Sharief and Nazir Ahmad. They were later hospitalised. Om Prakash of Kot-Jagir, Nagrota, Shanti Devi of Tutein Di Khui, Ishar Gill of Christian Colony and Sunil Singh of Paloura were also injured in clashes. They too were hospitalised.
About 10 persons last night forced their entry into the house of Ratan Lal at Jhajjar Kotli and beat him up. His neighbours -- Bittoo Masih, Rakesh, his brother Prakash, Pushpa Devi and Punnu Ram -- who came to his rescue, were also beaten.
The assailants later fled in a Tata sumo jeep. The injured were admitted to hospital.
In his statement to police, Ratan said one of the assailants hailed from Katra. He had eloped with his daughter some time back, he added. Cases in this connection were registered at the concerned police stations.
