| Ahead of LC polls, Cong high command’s loud message to party:Follow instructions of Soz as ‘boss’ | | |

Jammu, April 6: Even as a formal announcement is yet to be made about continuation of Prof Saif- u-Din Soz as J&K PCC Chief, Congress High Command has given ample indications that he is going to head the state unit for some more time. In fact a clear signal from the party high command has come to the dissidents in the state unit of the Congress telling them that the PCC Chief,Saif-ud-Din Soz,is the "boss."
Ahead of polls for six seats of Legislative Council, the message has become more loud and clear, given the way Prof Soz is handling all the political aspects related to polls. The PCC chief has been engaged with a hectic activity ever since the issuance of the notification but this activity has now redoubled after the names of the candidates and the number of seats Congress in particular is contesting became clear. In other words being the boss of the state unit the High Command has quite apparently reposed complete trust in him on all key matters related with the crucial polls. Congress is contesting on two seats of the Upper House.
Interestingly, following this signal a number of dissidents, including a couple of legislators and congress ministers,have started falling in line with the loyalists. Party sources said that this signal was given by the party high command after it was told that some dissidents,in the rival camp ,were trying to vote against the Congress candidates.
Reports said that the dissidents move to reconcile with the loyalists has been appreciated and reciprocated by the camp led by Soz. According to these reports once the party high command announced that cabinet reshuffle would be carried out in Jammu and Kashmir after the Legislative council election it sent shivers down the spine of those ministers who are known to belong to the camp of dissidents, headed by the Union Health Minister,Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Deputy Chief Minister,Tara Chand,has been made incharge of the congress campaign for the election.Tara Chand has been asked to initiate measures that would ensure victory not only for the too congress candidates but also for the National Conference,which has fielded three candidates in the Kashmir valley.
Reports said that the congress spokesman and member Legislative Council,Ravinder Sharma,has been in constant touch with the Deputy Chief Minister,Tara Chand,for framing the strategy for the congress success on he two seats it is contesting.
In the meantime the AICC Gene ral secretary and incharge of Congress affairs in Jammu and Kashmir,Mohan Pr akash,is visiting Jammu shortly for bringing about reconciliation between the two factions in the congress.Reports said that Mohan Prakash is visiting Jammu with a brief from the party command.On the basis of this brief he is likely to talk tough against those trying to weaken the Congress in the state.
Reports said that what motivated the dissidents to give up their campaign against Soz and his followers was the announcement that the cabinet expansion would be carried out after the council elections and those two had resorted to cross voting despite a whip may be sacked.
