Dy CM flags off Guru Nabha Dass ji Shobha Yatra

JAMMU, APRIL 7 –The Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand today said that focused attention is being paid to provide succor to the weaker and marginalized sections of the society. He said real tribute to the great spiritual leaders of the country is to follow their teachings and work for an egalitarian society, in which all sections of the society get their due share.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the function to flag off Shobha Yatra of Guru Nabha Dass ji. The yatra was organized on the eve of 438th “Parkash Diwas” of Guru Nabha Dass ji.
The yatra was taken out jointly by All Jammu and Kashmir Mahasha Sadar Sabha and Goswami Nabha Dass ji Mission. Jhankies depicting the life of Guru ji participated in the Shobha Yatra.
Retreating resolve of the government to work for equitable development of all sections and regions of the state, Mr. Tara Chand described social welfare as the key area. He said focused attention is being paid to uplift socio - economic profile of the state and various schemes in social sector have been launched to address the problems of weaker sections of the society.
Calling upon people to join hands with government in making the state a model state, the Deputy Chief Minister said a number of initiatives have been started by the government to upgrade infrastructure all across the state. He said infrastructure revolution has been launched in the state, by which besides upgrading rural infrastructure urban infrastructure is also getting fillip.
Describing amended property tax laws as people friendly, Mr. Tara Chand said that aim of these is to make J&K Municipal Act 2000 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000, pro-people. He said as per the amendments the government has totally exempted taxes on BPL people, agricultural lands, hospitals, education institutes, widows, deserted, disable people as well as divorcees.
He said maximum tax has been reduced to ten percent for commercial properties and four percent for residential which earlier was fifteen percent, adding that in Municipal Committees all residential properties have been exempted and maximum of three percent tax would be charged on commercial properties.
Later, the organizing committee presented a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister. The memorandum listed various demands of the community.
Mr. Tara Chand assured for sympathetic consideration to the genuine demands of the community.
