GEJAC to hold one day strike on April 26 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 6: Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Joint Action Committee (GEJAC) has given a call for one day strike on April 26 in protest against the delaying tactics adopted by the government in clearing the arrears of 6th Pay Commission Report. However emergency services which include hospitals, PDD, PHE and those involved in the Panchayat polls have been exempted from its purview. The committee an amalgam of various unions today held a massive demonstration in the city alleging that administration has back tracked from its commitment given to the employees that their arraes would be cleared in two installments. Addressing the gathering speakers warned Chief Minister Omar Abdullah either fulfill his commitment or face prolonged agitations across the state. They also took out a rally and raised slogans against the yesterday’s cane charge on the workers in Srinagar. “Salary of MLAs and MLCs was increased with one voice by the government and not a single voice opposed it, but in case of employees they have been denied their basic rights. For us they have canes of police while for themselves coffers of opened up”, said Jaswant Singh, senior GEJAC leader. Committee has asked all the workers to stay united and continue peaceful struggle till their demands are not met and as committed by the administration the pay commission report is not implemented fully. Suhsil Sudan, another leader lashed out at the coalition regime for befooling the workers of Jammu and Kashmir by giving them false promises. “During various meetings Ministers assure us that they will fulfill their commitment, but after that they forget the promises. It has become routine now”, Sudan said.
