Gulmarg with -5.3 degree colder than Leh, Kargil | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, April 7: Gulmarg, the world famous ski resort in north Kashmir, with minus 5.3 degree minimum temperature was colder than Leh and Kargil in Ladakh region, which remained cut off from the rest of the state due to closure of Zojila pass of 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh highway since December 1 last year. In view of approaching a new Western Disturbance (WD), rain or snow may occur at few places in the Jammu and Kashmir during the next two days, this was stated by Met department spokesman. People in the Kashmir valley will continue to shiver as the maximum and minimum temperatures will remain below normal. The WD, originating in Arabian sea and entering the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan, are approaching the Jammu and Kashmir, he said. The summer capital, Srinagar, continued to receive moderate to heavy rains, resulting in cold. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was 4 degree this morning, three degree below normal. The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here, in north Kashmir, was coldest after the minimum dipped to minus 5.3 degree this morning against yesterdays minus 4 degree. There was also one degree drop in the temperature at health resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir, where the minimum was recorded at minus 1 degree against 0.1 degree yesterday. Situation elsewhere in the Kashmir valley also remained almost unchanged. There was some improvement at Kargil, a border town, where the minimum temperature was recorded minus 4.8 degree against yesterdays minus 5.6 degree. Leh recorded minus 4.2 degree this morning.
