Jammu extends widespread support to Hazare’s crusade against corruption | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 7: Like other parts of the country, a widespread support continued to pour in for social activist Anna Hazare from all quarters in the state as well for his crusade against corruption in public life. Hazare, whose fast unto death in support of Lokpal Bill entered day three today has already snowballed into a mass movement and its effect is getting more and more vocal in several parts of the state with each passing day. A group of prominent senior citizens undertook a March from Parade to Radio Station, to express solidarity with Anna Hazare, to awaken masses about the menace of corruption. They were carrying placards depicting various slogans against corruption and in favour the veteran Gandhian Hazare. R K Sharma, one of the organizers of the march, who came back after spending some time at Jantar Manter, Delhi with Hazare, stated that scores of people are standing in support of him and one feels like saluting this man who at the age of 73 is still fighting a battle for eradicating corruption from the country which has taken deep routes. Sharma stated that he is planning to collect a signatured pledge from 1 lakh people undertaking not to give or take bribe to further their personal interests besides bringing to the notice of public any name which is involved in corruption Jammu Law Students Association (JLSA), in order to show its support to veteran social activist Anna Hazare has started a ''fast unto death’’ to press for involving the civil society in formulation of the anti-graft Lokpal Bill. Nitin Parihar, President JLSA, said," It's now high time when people from all backgrounds should come on a common platform to wage a war against corruption." "The social activist is observing a fast unto death for the betterment of our country, so it's our moral responsibility to support him in his campaign" he added. Internationalist Democratic Party (IDP) has joined the movement against Corruption and extended its support Hazare’s fight against corruption. While addressing the IDP activists, its national president I D Khajuria said that there is no alternative except struggle by the civil society against the corrupt system. Meanwhile, Anna Hazare’s peaceful protest has also inspired the youth of Kathua to intensify the fight of people against the corruption. The youth organized a dharna at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, Kathua. Later, a procession was taken out by the locals to express their solidarity for Hazare’s movement.
