Geelani sees conspiracy in Dogra Certificate issue Calls for demos today, strike on April 11

Early Times Report
Jammu, April 7: Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has taken serious note of the Dogra Certificate issue. Calling for peaceful demonstrations after Friday prayers tomorrow (April 8), the elderly leader has urged the people to observe total strike on April 11 to force the government to withdraw the order.
In a statement issued this evening, Geelani said it (issue of Dogra certificate) was a conspiracy to change the demography of the state. “It is also aimed at establishing dominance of a particular section on the majority community”, he said.
Geelani said the government was pursuing RSS agenda. “The RSS game plan is to make Jammu Kashmir Dogar Desh. Dogra speaking non-state subjects shall be settled in the state especially in Jammu”, he said.
He also made a mention of November 6, 1947 killings. “The killings were effected with a purpose. The Dogra Certificate is yet another step to change the demography of the state”, he said.
Geelani threatened dire consequences if the order relating to issuance of Dogra Certificate to Jammu people was not revoked immediately. “The situation would go out of hand and the responsibility shall lie on the government”, he warned.
Pertinent to mention, the Revenue Minister of the state made clear yesterday that the order shall not be revoked in any case. He said the government was willing to issue such certificates to Kashmiris and Ladakhies as well.
The revenue Minister also said that the certificate would be issued to facilitate recruitment of Jammu people in central forces and it did not violate the constitution of India in any way. Earlier, the former deputy Chief Minister, Muzaffar Husain Beig had termed the order un-constitutional.
Taking a dig at the rulers, Geelani said the Property Tax was aimed at crippling the economy of Kashmir. “This legislation is anti-people”, he said.
