| IT raids business concerns of hotlier, chemist | | | Early Times Report
Jammu/April 07: Income Tax sleuths today raided a plaza, a hotel, building material shops and the house of a local businessmen in Gandhi Nagar and Bari Brahmana areas and detected several cases of
tax evasion.
The raids, which started early today, were smultaneously carried out on Jaijeev Plaza and Corporate Hotel at Bari Brahmana, and building material shops and the Gandhi Nagar house of Suraj Prakash Arora and his son Chander Mohan Arora alias Lovely Arora.
Refusing to divulge details about the raids, the officers of income tax department said this was part of their regular activities. The final findings were yet to be ascertained, they said.Official sources, however, said the raids were conducted by an IT team from Amritsar following reports of evasion of income tax by the father-son duo.
The IT men were stated to have seized several documents and files pertaining to the accounts of the raided concerns. A raid was also conducted in the chemist shop of prominent businessman Harjinder Singh Anand at Trikuta Nagar. The IT men were continuing searches of the raided premises till late
tonight.The Aroras also owned a cable TV business at Gandhi Nagar.
