| Panchayat Adalat in offing: Rather | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr-08: Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today conducted an extension tour of far-flung Kandi areas of Chrari Sharief constituency and took stock of the problems confronting the people besides assessing pace of progress in various development schemes.
The areas visted included Nagbal-Yasmarg, Darwin-Nowgam, Kanidajan, Pakherpora, Futlipora, Dalwan, Malpora and Dardpora.
The Minister also addressed series of public meetings at Futlipora, Kanidajan and Pakharpora and said government was committed and duty bound to provide all the basic facilities to the people of backward and bad pockets at par with the cities, adding that adding that a massive development strategy has been initiated in nook and corner of the State which needs a peaceful and congenial atmosphere for effective implementation.
“Every citizen has a right to live a dignified life, irrespective of region or religion” Mr. Rather said, adding that all the available resources are being pooled to provide requisite facilities to the people at their door steps with special emphasis on neglected and backward areas. He said it was mission of the Government to provide justice and equal opportunities of development and growth to all the three regions of the State.
While seeking cooperation of the people for maintaining peace and tranquility in the State, Mr. Rather cautioned the people about the intentions of the anti-people elements.
Highlighting the significance of Panchayat Raj system in transforming the rural economy, Mr. Rather called upon people to strengthen the system by ensuring their massive participation in the on-going Panchayat election, which are aimed at empowering the people at the grass-root and ensure their participation in plan formulation.
He asked the people to elect honest, dedicated and capable candidates who could efficiently serve the people and solve their problems. He said after completion of the Panchayat election, Panchayat Adalat would be constituted to redress the problem of the people at local level.
