Basantgarh pledges for Zero MMR & IMR on World Health Day

BASANTGARH, Apr 8: A special programme was organized at Basantgarh, headquarters of Dudu Basantgarh sub division under the chairpersonship of sub divisional magistrate Amit Sharma to commemorate the spirit of sound health and sound body on World Health Day.
Although this programme was organized at PHC Basantgarh at a very short notice but it saw a very healthy participation of ASHA and Anganwadi workers along with students and lot of women folk from the nearby areas.
While speaking on the occasion, sub divisional magistrate Amit Sharma specifically mentioned that total commitment needs to be exhibited in eradication of all life threatening diseases from the Sub Division so as to minimise the consumption of antibiotics and other strong drugs which leave strong side effects and result into weakening of immunity system of the body.
Moreover, he talked about total eradication of self created fatalistic health hazards such as AIDS, Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) which can be avoided with proper education and awareness amongst the rural masses of the Sub Division. This message was not only appreciated by the pubic present on the occasion but it was also adopted as a resolution on suo motto basis that no stone shall be left unturned to bring MMR & IMR to zero rate in the entire Dudu Basantgarh Sub Division thus pledging to make it first Sub Division in the entire nation to achieve this unique feet in the coming years.
Apart from SDM Amit Sharma, the main speakers were Dr Tariq who talked about the objectives and spread of NHRM and the role of natural therapies in keep proper state of health. Alongwith this he gave a practical demo about the harmful synthetic ingredients in children’s favourite snacks such as ‘Kurkure’ by burning one of its flakes in front of huge gamut of students present in the programme.
Dr Pawan Kumar threw light upon the significance of World Health Day and role of World Health Organization (WHO) whose Foundation Day is celebrated every year on this day. Abdul Rashid Wani, a social worker mentioned about the utility of such programmes and thanked the SDM Amit Sharma for organizing this informative and thought provoking session on World Health Day at Basantgarh.
Other prominent persons present on the occasion were Yog Raj Karlopia, Gian Chand, Moulvi Mushtaq, Manzoor Ahmed, Master Swarn Singh, SHO Nishat Ahmed, Dr Pardeep Manhas, Mohd Saddiq and Kewal Kumar who also expressed their strong commitment towards eradicating manmade health hazards such as MMR & IMR from Dudu Basantgarh Sub Division at the earliest.
