World Health Day celebrated in Bhaderwah | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 8: The World Health Day was celebrated at Government Boys Higher secondary school Bhaderwah . The theme of WHD this year was “URBANISATION AND HEALTH”. More than 200 students, 30 teachers and 20 village panchayat and community leaders participated in this event. Besides the students and teachers of the school, their counterparts of Nagar High School and Middle School Bhaderwah Mandir also participated in the event. Interestingly 10 Sarpanchs (representatives of a committee of a village) from nearby villages also took keen interest and participated in the day-long celebration.
Ajit Singh Kotwal, principal explained how health is impacted due to increased incidences of natural disasters as a result of climate change. BMO Bhaderwah Dr L D Bhagat and Dr Nazir Ahmed senior Lect English highlighted the importance of celebrating WHD throughout the Globe and also the significance of the theme “Urbanisation and Health”. He talked about local problems and health related issues due to urbanization. According to him due to urbanization on large scale slum areas get highly affected because of lack of proper sanitation and drainage system which directly affects their health. The students spoke on topics like urbanization, health, pollution due to urbanization, loss of bio-diversity due to urbanization, environmental degradation, healthy people healthy nation and related subjects..
