JMC continues anti-encroachment drive | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 8: Under instructions from S.C. Sawhney Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Jammu, the enforcement Staff led by Som Dut Tak chief enforcement officer alongwith police force while further continuing the anti encroachment drive to clear the footpaths / pavements etc visited the areas of MaheshPura Chowk, Bakshi Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Rajpura, Subash Nagar, Paloura, Janipur etc. During the drive the team seized material, goods / articles like Girders, Brooms, Cages, Steel Racks, Tables, Drums, Wipers, Paint Buckets, School Bags, Counters, Benches, Sign Boards etc. which were placed the shopkeepers / vendors by encroaching upon footpaths / pavements and part of road sides in these areas. The team also removed banners / hoardings / kiosks which were erected upon electric poles / public places without permission. Besides this, the Municipal Veterinary Officer alongwith field staff conducted drive against the polythene carry bags and inspected the shops and other outlets in the areas of Meshapura, Sabzi Mandi, Parade, Indria Chowk, Bus Stand, Jewel Area, Talab Tillo, Canal Road, Muthi, Bakshi Nagar etc. During the inspection the team seized about 10 Kgs of polythene carry bags from the shopkeepers, vendors and others outlets in these areas. An amount of Rs. 6000/- (Rupees Six Thousand Only) was charged as fine from the defaulters on spot who were using the polythene carry bags. The team also made the people aware of the ban imposed by the state Govt. on the use of polythene carry bags and they were requested to discard its use and adopt alternate arrangement to carry their commodities. The team also inspected meat shops at KC Chowk & Jewel Area and imposed Rs. 580 fine to the defaulters who were selling the unstamped meat
