Judiciary too gripped by 'corruption': Bar Association of Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 8 : Alleging that corruption begins from home, Bar Association of Jammu (BAJ) president B S Slathia today said that judiciary at present is one of the most 'corrupt' agencies of the society. ''It is a good initiative that we are today united in support of social activist Anna Hazare against the menace of corruption but I feel that we must begin it from home,’’ Slathia said addressing the lawyers. Hundreds of lawyers, advocates and judges staged a demonstration in support of Anna Hazare at High Court premises here. Slathia said, ‘’Even the Supreme Court has admitted that 20 percent of people in the higher judiciary, are corrupt.’’ The BAJ president said, “Before raising finger at bureaucrats, politicians or anybody else, we need to check ourselves and launch a cleanliness drive,’’ adding that BAJ would pledge not to provide any legal support to a corrupt person. Slathia further said that BAJ would soon constitute a Judicial Accountability Committee to fight the genuine grievances of the masses and keep check on malpractice carried by any person in the Court. “Anna is fighting for a cause as entire nation is suffering due to the cancer of corruption,’’ he said adding that his initiative would not go in vain and the country would stand in support of the new avatar-Anna Hazare.
