Govt to create 1496 additional posts in Traffic wing | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, April 8 To tide over the problem of staff crunch in Jammu and Kashmir''s Traffic Police wing, the state is considering a move to strengthen the force by creating 1496 additional posts, officials said today. According to a proposal mooted by the Director General of Police (DGP), the State Government will create 1496 additional posts in various ranks of the Traffic Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police, state Home department officials said here. The creations of these posts would taken up in three-phases by the government, they said. The first phase will see the creation of 653 posts, including one DIG, 2 SPs, 8 DSPs, 15 Inspectors and 50 sub-inspectors, 50 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), they said. Similarly, in the second phase, 431 posts would be created, including one SP, 8 DSPs, 22 Inspectors, 50 SIs and 59 ASIs, the officials said. In the third phase, 412 posts, including one SP, 7 DSPs, 22 Inspectors, 49 SIs and 47 ASIs would be created, they said. In view of the paucity of staff in the Traffic wing, the state will also set up a panel headed by the Home Commissioner to examine the requirements of the Traffic enforcement agency. The said committee will examine the proposal of the DGP regarding the reorganisation and creation of additional posts for the Traffic wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police, said officials.
