| Resurgence’11 inaugurated with a bang at SMVDU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATRA, Apr 8: Resurgence- 2011,the annual cultural and sports festival of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University began today in the Matrika auditorium of the varsity amidst enthusiasm and euphoria.
Declaring the festival open, The Vice Chancellor, Prof R N K Bamezai who was chief guest on the occasion, greeted the faculty, staff and students at the juncture of festivities and celebrations in SMVDU and said that the annual Youth festival is a much required breather for everyone as it falls after the minor-I and Minor-II and is followed by Major examinations.
In his inaugural address, Prof Bamezai highlighted the significance of such events which provide a platform for nurturing team spirit and leadership qualities amongst students in university life thereby producing “ highly skilful trained manpower”.
The three-day Youth festival is a conglomeration of literary, cultural and sports events. The intra-university literary and sports events commenced on March 31 in the university and the winning teams would be participating in the Inter-University events which will be held on April 9 10.
The cultural events commenced with a sparkling performance of a play ‘Ek Tha Gadha” by Rangyug.
Other spectacular events in the festival are Mea Culpa, Bread-Butter-Jam, Symphony, Mock-it-up, Youth Parliame, Pump it up and hall Bol Street Play.
