CS for framing IT policy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 8 – Chief Secretary Madhav Lal today underscored the need for framing realistic and practical IT policy for the State with a view to harness potential in this sector. Chairing a meeting to discuss the draft IT policy, the Chief Secretary asked the IT Department to prepare a comprehensive working paper based on the experience of States like Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand after exhaustive, intensive and extensive interactions with the stake holders. The policy document would, inter-alia, clearly delineate the hurdles being faced in the development of this sector in the State besides underline the basic infrastructure required including capacity building enabling the coming up of IT and ITES ventures. He said some areas should be identified for setting up soft ware technology parks in a cluster approach. The meeting was attended by among others Principal Secretary Planning & Development, Khursheed Ahmed Ganaie, Principal Secretary, Industries, Mr. Umang Narula, Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, Ms. Tanveer Jehan, Secretary, IT Department, Mr. M.K. Diwedi, Secretary Law, Mr. G.H. Tantray and other officers.
