| Madan Lal holds the 3rd Quarterly meeting of FCI | | | JAMMU | NOV 15 The third quarterly meeting of Regional Consultative Committee Food Corporation of India (J&K) was held under the chairman ship of MP Madan Lal Sharma. In the meeting Sharma took the review of activities of Department of Food Supply and regional department of Food Corporation of India. In the meeting he stressed upon the department officials to make regular supply of ration to the people belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL). Those who were present in the meeting include General Manager FCI, FA Khan, Divisional Traffic Manager Northern Railways Jammu, AK Mittoo Dy. Director CAP (Consumer and Public Distribution) VK Sharma and area manager of FCI along with Amrit Sagar, Hussainali, Rajinder Singh etc Rajesh Sharma. During the meeting General Manager FCI apprised the committee about the major breakthroughs in the functioning of the department particularly with reference with reference with the availability of the Food Grains and Sugar in the state its distribution under the TPDS and other welfare schemes sponsored by the government of India including Defense, Advance Winter Dumping of Food Grains in far flung snow bound areas of the state and availability of storage capacity and vit6s further augmentation. Meanwhile the chairman of the RCC stressed upon the Importance of the procurement of the food grains in the state in the best interest of the farmers and also advised for exploring the possibility of the procurement in coinsultance with the state authorities. Meanwhile Sharma suggested in the meeting that emphasis should be laid upon the scientific and hygienic storage of the food materials. He also assured that in order to workout the problem of space in the godowns, district level storage homes need to be established.
