IT raids: Two surrender Rs 4 cr, Arora's business links with ex-minister surface | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 08: Following income tax (IT) raids on their premises Thursday, two chemists were today stated to have surrendered Rs 4 cr, while a whopping amount of money and gold jewellery worth lakhs were recovered from the water tank in the house of another businessman. Simultaneous raids were yesterday conducted under the supervision of Ambala IT officer Ram Pal on the houses and business establishments of Jasbir Singh, his son Manjeet Singh, Suraj Prakash Arora and his son Chander Mohan Arora alias Lovely Arora. The searches, which started Thursday morning, continued till this evening, according to official sources. Sources said during checking of documents in their Gandhi Nagar house and two chemist shops of Jasbir and Manjeet, the IT men seized several documents for scrutiny.The father-son duo were stated to have surrendered Rs 4 cr to the IT men. Meanwhile, account books and other documents from the Bari Brahmana-located Jaijeev Plaza and Corporate Hotel of Suraj and his son Lovely, were also seized by the IT sleuths.The IT men also enquired about them about their total assets in the state and other states. Sources said a large amount of money and gold ornaments worth lakhs were recovered from a water tank on the rooftop of their house.Their bank accounts and lockers would be searched tomorrow, the sources added.Sources said during the scrutiny of seized documents, the IT men discovered that they had a joint account with a former cabinet minister's kin.A CBI team also reached there after it came to know about the business links of a minister's kin with them.The Aroras also owned a cable TV business at Gandhi Nagar.
