Governing, Annual General Body Meetings of ASHI held | Usha Vohra for mopping up resources to extend ambit of ASHI activities | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, APRIL 9 – The First Lady, Mrs. Usha Vohra, today called for intensifying the activities of the Association for Social Health in India (ASHI) and mopping up resources to bring increased number of beneficiaries under the umbrella of its initiatives. The First Lady, who is the President, ASHI, J&K Chapter, was chairing the Governing Body and Annual General Body Meetings of ASHI, here. Mrs. Vohra said that all of us need to work with renewed commitment to help the underprivileged persons with a view to transform their lives. She stressed upon the ASHI members to undertake adult literacy programmes alongside its ongoing efforts for ensuring education to all the children in the adopted villages, as education can make vital difference in promoting speedy socio-economic empowerment. The First Lady laid stress on increasing the membership of ASHI so that its activities get the desired momentum and presented a cheque of Rs. 50,000, on behalf of the Governor, as a token of support to the various activities of ASHI. She also asked for preparing a detailed project for undertaking activities like adult education, short duration employment oriented training programmes, hygiene and health awareness etc. in the newly adopted Panjgrain Panchayat and announced that the Governor would be approacheded to provide adequate support for this purpose. She asked the Executive Body of the Association to effectively liaise with the industrial and commerce bodies of the State to garner enhanced financial support for ASHI’s new development initiatives.
