PDP holds demonstration at all tehsil headquarters for resolution of Kashmir problem

Jammu, Apr 9: In connection with its on-going campaign for the resolution of the Kashmir problem, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today organized massive demonstrations at all tehsil headquarters of Jammu province.
Thousands of party activists as well as senior leaders participated in these demonstrations and stressed on the need of the resolution of Kashmir problem for the lasting peace and economic growth of this region.
At Jammu, hundreds of party activists took out a massive demonstration and emphasized on the need of taking some effective steps for the resolution of the Kashmir problem. Amidst shouting of pro-peace slogans, the demonstration passed through different areas before turned into a rally which was addressed by all senior leaders of the party.
Addressing the rally, PDP leaders warned against adopting delay tactics or taking cosmetics steps in resolution of this problem as, according to them, overwhelming opinion of the people in this region was in favour of a peaceful resolution of this decades old problem.
They pointed out that solution of Kashmir problem was also important for the development and economic growth of this region because lasting peace in this sub-continent would provide opportunity to realize full development potential of Jammu and Kashmir. They further cautioned that putting this issue under the carpet would be proved counter productive.
Reiterating that resolution of Kashmir is the core issue of the party, they said that PDP would continue to strive for it through peaceful democratic means. They said that today’s demonstrations at all district headquarters was a step in this direction.
They said that heavy turn of people in today’s demonstrations was a clear indication that majority of the people want resolution of this issue which can not be put into the cold storage any more.
Emphasizing on the need of creating atmosphere of trust and confidence for taking some concerted steps, PDP leaders demanded that release of political prisoners, hundreds of innocent youth, languishing in different jails was must for removing the sense of insecurity among the masses and creating conducive atmosphere.
Trilok Singh Bajwa, Thakur Balbir Singh, Rangil Singh, Ved Mahajan, Daman Bhasin, Shanti Devi, Falail Singh, R K Bali, Suram Singh, Suresh Sharma, Choudhary Hussain Ali Bawa, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Vijay Dogra, Ashok Jogi, Rafiq Malik, Rajinder Singh Manhas, Surjeet Kour, Deepinder Kour and others addressed the gathering.
At Poonch, the demonstration was held under the leadership of Imtiyaz Bandey in which Kamaljeet Singh and Prem Sudan were also present. Hamid Manhas along with Dr Mumtaz Bukhari, Iqbal Mirza and Aijaz Mirza addressed the workers at Surankote.
At Rajouri, Shahzad Khan along with Tahir Lone and Tazim Dar organized the demonstration in which a large number of party workers were present.
Protest demonstrations were held at all the tehsils of Kishtwar district. Ghulam Hussain Moulvi, Mohammad Ramzad and Abdul Wahid addressed the workers at Marwah while as Rehmat Ullah Malik, Prem Chand and Ghulam Hussain led the demonstration at Chatroo area. At Kishtwar, party MLC Asgar Ali, Shaqir Saddiqui, Bashir Ahmed, Suresh Sharma, Wasil and Mushtaq Ahmed addressed the party workers.
Similarly at R S Pura, large number of party workers participated in the demonstration which was held under the leadership of Choudhary Chuni Lal. At Bishnah, party leader Chatter Saini led the demonstration.
Similar protest demonstrations were held at Sukhdev Sharma at Udhampur and Partap Sharma at Reasi.
During the demonstrations, PDP workers also highlighted failure of the government in the State especially failure of the coalition to provide basic amenities and brazen sale of government jobs.
