“Panchayat election on non party basis is coalition’s compulsion”
4/9/2011 10:18:47 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 9: Bhartiya Janta Party has said the decision of the Congress –NC coalition Govt for holding panchayat election on non party basis is their compulsion to save their self from the wrath of the people in the state.
While addressing the members Bali Bhagat said the state coalition Govt. has failed on all fronts. Not even a single promise made during assembly elections 2008 by the congress and the NC party has been full filled sofar. Discrimination with Jammu people in general and people living in hilly areas of Jammu province in particular on all fronts is going on. No amendment was moved by the coalition Govt. in the just concluded assembly budget session for streamlining the delimitation of the assembly and parlimentary constituencies in the state as promised in the assembly elections.
BJP strongly charged the state“Panchayat delimitation commission” headed by its chairman A.G. Shahbaz for politically motivated delimitation of Sarpanch and panch constituencies on regional and communal lines in the state Citing an example that Jammu 10 districts are having 1,65,298 electorates and 7 Blocks more than 10 districts of Valley. But 10 districts of valley are having 10 panchayats and 936 Panch constituencies more than Jammu 10 districts.Besides this Kashmir province is having 198 panchayats, 2199 panch constituencies and 7 Blocks more than Jammu province but 30,927 electorates less than Jammu province. This is the height of the discrimination done by the Congress-NC with the people of Jammu province. BJP has decided to educate the people of Jammu province at gross root level that how Congress-NC have back stabbed the people of Jammu province by thrusting political dominancy of valley over Jammu while allotting the panchayat seats.
BJP as the national mainstream political party can not disassociate herself from the forthcoming panchayat elections but is committed to fight for the implementation of 73rd & 74thamendment of the Indian constitution to strengthen the panchayati Raj institution at gross root level in the state.
BJP appealed the electorates of the Ramban district to identify the most suitable, honest, people friendly and development oriented persons for being elected as sarpanches and Panches. There is genuine need to rise above the party lines and ensure the victory of rightful thinking people and those who are interested in the development of their panchayats.
BJP district working committee meeting Ramban was held at Maitra. Meeting was presided over by Ramesh Kumar Sharma and Sham Singh Katoch was the guest of honour.
The prominent among others who attended the meeting include Ved Bhushan Gupta, Drub Singh, Nasib Singh,Kuldip Singh, Rash Pal, Shashi Pal,Pershotan, Narad Singh and others.
