4/9/2011 10:19:55 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 9: Panun Kashmir views with serious concern the decision taken by Amarnath Shrine Board to curtail the period of Amarnath Yatra by fifteen days this year.
This decision is in utter violation of the spirit of the Yatra and smacks of a design to obstruct the smooth passage of the age-old traditional Yatra of the Hindu fraternity.
Panun Kashmir condemns this decision which seems to have been taken by the Board under pressure from the quarters inimical to the Yatra, said Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir while addressing a press conference here today.
We are in agreement of the contention of the Baba Amarnath Yatri Nyas, Jammu which is spearheading the movement against the ill-advised decision of SASB and extend our full support to the Nyas in its endeavor.
We would appeal to the individual members of the SASB to rise to the occasion and respect the sensibilities of the Hindu society in this regard and not do anything that hampers the articles of faith and tradition.
It has been decided by Panun Kashmir to organize the 3rd phase of the "Kashmir Sankalp Yatra" in the third week of April 2011.
This Yatra, which will be led by the President of Panun Kashmir, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, will cover three states namely, Maharashtra, Delhi and Rajasthan. In order to make people a part of the awareness campaign on Kashmir, the Yatra will reach out to the people at ten places in the three states. This 21-day Yatra will focus on the issues like secessionist conspiracy in the Jammu and Kashmir state, Amamath Yatra period curtailment, and demand of Homeland for Kashmiri Pandits in the valley of Kashmir
Panun Kashmir welcomes the movement initiated by the civil society headed by the veteran freedom fighter, Anna Hazare against corruption.
The war against corruption has fundamentally taken the position of the 'second freedom struggle' in this country. Having respect for the sentiments of the people in this regard, the government and the political class of the country should welcome this civilian movement for restoration of clean public life.
We enjoin upon the people to come forward in this regard and join this struggle against corruption to pave way for better and dignified life for the generations to come in this country, said Chrungoo.
Virender Raina, national spokesperson-PK, Upinder Kaul, general secretary and O.P.Sharma, patron and Jagtish Ji president SD Sabha Jammu were also present in the conference.
