Recreational Park at Channi Himmat soon : Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, APRIL 10-In continuation drive against land grabbers, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said Government has retrieved Rs. 2 crore State land from land grabbers in Channi Himmat along Kunjwani Bye-Pass road adding that directions have been issued to Housing Board Corporation to prepare a plan for development of recreational-cum-amusement park on the one-kilometer open land so that the people could avail the benefits of such place in morning and evening hours. The Minister said this while addressing a ‘Baisakhi Melan’ function organized by the residents of Channi Himmat, here today. Former Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mrs Sheetal Nanda, Senior Advocate Mr. A K Sawhney besides eminent personalities and locals in large numbers were present on the occasion. Mr. Bhalla greeted the people on Baisakhi festival which is going to celebrate on April 14. On the occasion, he informed that Government has earmarked Rs. 1 crore for development of recreational park on the retrieved one-kilometer long open space adding that the park would have landscaping, sprinkle fountain, Nescafe House, walkway, drinking water, parking and illumination facilities. He asked the people not to put debris in open spaces adding that Government is planning to beautify the areas by developing walkways and parks on modern lines. The Minister informed that Government has earmarked Rs. 30 lakh for upgradation of Government Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat infrastructure including additional class rooms and playfield. He said Rs. 25 lakh playfield in Sector-3 is under construction on modern lines adding that on the completion of it, the local schools as well as sports lovers would available the benefits in organizing sports tournaments and other functions there He said development of every corner of the State is the priority of coalition Government adding that Government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of the State including safe drinking water, electricity, health, education, road connectivity, lanes and drains. He said Government has resolved to create durable assets across the State for the convenience of all sections of the society.
